After four years of intensive development we achieved a key milestone for our company – the first field test prototype. This important step proves the original concept of PLASMABIT – groundbreaking plasma-based drilling system. We reached the point when we are able to develop viable deep drilling system with necessary subsystems. The current system is based on 35kW plasmatorch modified for extreme High pressure high temperature conditions. The system´s power output is in the scale 1:10 to the target device planned for next year. This step shifted our company from a laboratory/research stage to a practical engineering stage.

Drilling device is based on drilling rig MYKOLA I, named as a tribute to our plasma physics expert Mykola Guivan, who died tragically last year. The drilling rig  we constructed for our particular needs to be flexible to test different drilling devices on various rock types. Currently we are focused on improvement of particular subsystems to enable the automated drilling to deeper depths. The main components which will be improved in the process are movement subsystem, drilling fluids subsystem and controlling and monitoring subsystem. For the sake of insufficient space in our previous laboratories, we have built and moved to Deep Drilling Center. This step is a result of long-term activities whose aim is to develop groundbreaking deep drilling technology focused on geothermal and hydrocarbons applications. The center is equipped with the most advanced technological equipment operated by experienced staff.

We hope that the environment of the laboratories would be attractive for highly qualified professionals from all the relevant technology segments. In this process, new knowledge is needed, particularly knowledge from physics of plasma or new materials suitable for extreme conditions. We are happy to announce that our company Geothermal Anywhere will participate on a European-wide project Researchers' Night 2012. The event is aimed on presentation of scientists and popularisation of science. It wants to show scientists as ordinary people that have their hopes, dreams and families and contribute to welfare of the whole society. It is organized by our partner organization Slovak Organization for Research and Development Activities SOVVA. The motto of this year's event is „Science is life“. Our CEO, Igor Kočiš gave a short interview (in Slovak) and video presentation regarding science and our development:

The target group of the workshop are as follows:

1. policy and decision makers of national authorities to adopt the right legislative framework
2. decision makers from municipal and local authorities and energy authorities to have a better regulatory framework and simplify the procedures at local level
3. banks, potential investors and other market players to stimulate investment in the sector
4. national and local suppliers, designers and installers of district heating and cooling systems (namely engineers, geologists, technicians and utilities) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
5. district heating operators and DH associations
6. owners and tenants of large buildings
7. educational and training institutions (universities, training centers)
