SPE Aberdeen Well Abandonment Seminar Brought New Perspectives and Lessons Learnt

Plasma-Based transformative technology for Well Plug and Abandonment by GA Drilling was one of the topics of technology showcase section at 7th European Well Abandonment Seminar in Aberdeen, on June 28th, patronized by SPE, the largest organization of petroleum engineers worldwide.

Sponsored by Westerton (UK) Ltd., in association with Wild Well Control and Schlumberger, leading European operators, service companies and new technology producers met to discuss their current experience with rig reactivation and well abandonment. GA Drilling were invited along with other innovative companies, to showcase alternative possibilities for time and cost saving well abandonment solutions.

Iain Pittman, member of the GA Drilling Advisory Board responsible for product development, presented GA Drilling’s PLASMABIT technology features, its benefits and more than 35% time savings in subsea case, compared to conventional milling. “It was a privilege to present to industry the benefits of PLASMABIT and the current status in its development. From discussions with delegates it was clear, that there is a need for change and PLASMABIT is believed to be a key enabler for this. In further discussions PLASMABIT was seen as being the missing piece in providing robust rigless abandonment solutions,“ said Iain Pittman summing up the GA’s participation at the seminar.
