The Intellectual Property Specialist (Patent Engineer) will work closely with the company’s technology and business groups. Major responsibilities will include the development and execution of the company’s Freedom to operate (FTO) strategy. In case of infringement situations, the Patent Engineer proposes options and executes chosen one including proposal on legal agreements. Working directly with staff responsible for IP protection, R&D teams and executives.

Your job will be:

  • Prepare freedom-to-operate opinions
  • Search for data and documents in IP databases
  • Conduct pre-suit infringement investigations
  • Oversee the drafting and prosecution of patent applications
  • Provide counsel to all levels of the company with respect to IP matters and strategy, including non-infringement and invalidity positions and the enforcement of IP
  • Negotiate and draft intellectual property agreements
  • In case of problems, communicate and solve problems with patents attorneys
  • Conduct and supervise post-grant proceedings

We will be glad to know you, if you:

  • Have Engineering (mechanical or electrical) degree
  • Have experience of work with free Patent databases
  • Have minimum of three years’ experience with preparation of freedom-to-operate opinions
  • Have a good judgment and the ability to find solutions to complex intellectual property issues
  • Have ability to spot and prioritize potential IP issues as they arise
  • Have mechanical engineering experience
  • Have experience with preparation of legal agreements in the area of IP
  • Have knowledge of Theory of Inventive Problem Solving with the focus on avoiding competitors´ IPR
  • Have knowledge in a wide range of intellectual property areas (international trademark law, policies, and processes)
  • Have strong background in science and technology
  • Have an international oil and gas industry experience
